Public and Private schools reopens
Public and private primary and secondary schools in Delta State reopened for second term 2024/ 2025 academic session on 6th January, 2025. This was in line with the earlier released calendar for the academic year. The term which began on the 6th January, 2025 is expected to come to a close on 9th April, 2025
At St. Charles College, Abavo, students were seen tidying up their classroom and getting ready for learning activities.
Ebeano group started an intervention program in the school.
The intervention comes in the area of capital projects for which a truckload of cement (900 bags of 50kg) arrived at the school towards the end of November 2024. Block moulding is now in progress, targeting thirty thousand (30,000) blocks.
A report from the CEO of the block industry, Mr. Ekuh...an old boy of the school, revealed that the building of approved structures would commence once the molding of blocks is completed. The structures/facilities to put up include classrooms, a science laboratory, a library, an administrative office, a computer hall, and a volleyball court.
To further make the work hinge-free, a water tower with 4GP rubber tanks was installed, and 10 solar panels together with a sumor to power and pump water to the tanks from the already existing borehole in the school.
Principal quarter was razed down by fire.
The principal's quarter, located along the second gate of the school, was on 4th January 2025, engulfed by fire at about 5pm, and the roof completely razed down. All the efforts of the people around and the school staff to put off the fire were abortive. Though the building had no occupant before the incident. Hence, no casualty was recorded.
